5 Years a Vegan

Today marks 5 years being vegan for me. Not going to bore you with details. But here are 3 of my new favorite items that only came out this past month from Whole Foods:

In 5 years I never felt like I didn’t have the choice. It’s really easy becoming a vegan today, everything is available. Premium chicken filet, ground beef, tuna, ice cream, etc., etc.

Don’t even dare say I don’t get all the nutrition my body needs, because I had this argument before and I won. You can get a much better plant based protein than animal based, all the B vitamins are available in multiple vegetables, all the amino acids are in beans and nuts. I feel great. I love the food. And life is great.

There are a huge community out there, for example on instagram: @datingavegan and @veganspy gave me so many great ideas and places to visit. I really like @orchardgrocer (orchardgrocer.com) thanks to Vegan Spy.

Any way, 5 years now. It’s been awesome. Looking forward to the next 5 😉

After 40+ Years… My First Apple Product!

This is my first apple product in over 40 years!

So… a quick post since it’s a milestone in my life. Then heading over to see some 4th of July fireworks.

I posted this earlier today…

Some of you may know that I’ve started my coding adventure back when I was a little kid. It was a computer programing school for kids and I learned Logo (yes that turtle programing language). The thing is that we learned that on the Lisa II.

That was the last Apple product I’ve worked on.

Over 40 years later I took the plunge and bought this little gadget.

I needed the biggest portable always connected (cellular) device and the iPad Pro 12.9″ screen with cellular (and wifi) offered that in a sleek small package.

I made sure that all the apps are available, and it is. Also heard a ton of good things about it.

So here we go. A new chapter in my gadgets experience. We’ll see how it goes. And who knows, maybe the iPhone is next?!

Now… Off to watch some NYC 4th of July fireworks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA.

One Year Vegan Experience (And the best restaurant dish)

So… A little over a year ago, I’ve had my appendix removed, then after watching a documentary called ‘Food Choices’ I decided to become a vegan. Well, it’s been 365 days of being vegan, which means I have survived and still alive today without milk, eggs, cheese, red meat, chicken, or even fish. And I have to say, I am healthy.

Not going to lie, still crave a steak, seafood and even chicken. But just like when I quit smoking years ago and still crave one here and there, it doesn’t mean to just go for it.

And to be completely honest, I did it because it’s healthier, not because it’s better for the environment or whatever, yeah it’s all good and all, and you can call me selfish, but the way I was thinking, is that it’s better for me in general and the other good stuff come with it automatically.

Not to mention the fact that I live in NYC which is like a heaven for vegans and it did help a lot.

I’ve had so many new choices and alternatives, the majority of my food was home made, and my new best friend is a company called Gardien, smoothies, vegetables (frozen or none), and even eating out in a strictly vegan places. The best thing I have had in a restaurant is hands down the impossible burger:

See… It’s science.
